Gita Dvorakova
Gita was born in 1982 in Prague, the capital of Czech Republic, where she spent most of her life. After secondary school she started her studies at Charles University which is the oldest university in Czech Republic (founded 1348 by emperor Charles IV). She decided to study Clinical and Toxicological Analysis at the Department of Analytical Chemistry. Although her studies were more focussed on the impact of chemistry on human health rather than on chemistry itself, she did her bachelor as well as master thesis at the Department of Physical and Macromolecular Chemistry in the Group of Specialty Polymers of Prof. Jiri Vohlidal. There she became interested in polymers and she decided to continue with her studies in this group as a PhD. student. However, during her 2004 summer holiday she fell in love with Italy and its inhabitants, landscapes, character, food, ....... Thus, she decided to apply for a position at the University of Padova in the frame of the NASCENT project. The application was successful, and therefore she interrupted her PhD studies at Charles University in Prague and from 01/02/2007 she is staying in Padua where she feels really well.
