Professor Wlodzimierz KutnerIn IPC PAS, there are approximately 300 employees, half of them being research personnel, including 26 full, 19 associate, and 58 adjunct professors as well as 50 PhD students. The IPC scientific profile results from evolution of its traditional research within physical chemistry over 50 years and present strong links to the contemporary physical chemistry community worldwide. Twelve Specialized Laboratories offer expertise in scientific research and instrumentation.

The Polish State Committee for Scientific Research (KBN) has ranked IPC as the best Polish chemistry research institute and as the second best chemistry research center among all Polish research centers, including chemistry departments of universities. Annually, KBN awards the IPC scientists with approximately 20 research grants. Moreover, several international grants are under work. The IPC scientists publish approximately 300 research papers annually in the impact factor ranked scientific journals.

For around 40 years, the International PhD in Chemistry Program has been running in IPC with the annual output of approximately ten PhD graduates. Jointly with the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw, IPC is engaged in the Bachelor Program in Natural Sciences and MSc Program in Chemistry. The IPC research workers are teaching the undergraduate student classes and laboratories and students of the Department are preparing their Bachelor diploma and MSc theses in research groups of IPC.

The Chemipan R&D Laboratories is an industrial branch of IPC manufacturing several profiled agricultural and pharmaceutical chemicals. Chemipan develops synthetic procedures, manufactures and commercializes selected new drug precursors as well as pheromone 'biological traps' for protection of forests and orchards against insects.

IPC is engaged in constructing and manufacturing selected scientific instruments, primarily for spectroscopy, electrochemistry and thermodynamics. Mechanical, electronics and glass blower shops as well as the quality chemistry library support both the research and scientific instrument construction and fabrication activity.
